Family Owned & Operated. Est. 1965

Southern California's Most
Respected Ash Scattering /
Burial at Sea Service

The Story

Prince Charters was originally founded in 1965 by Captain Doug’s grandfather, Dr. Gilbert Prince. It all began with a love for the sea, and a priest who found a way to use that love to create a very special ministry to the bereaved.

The Rev. Gilbert Prince, then rector of St. James, South Pasadena, led a group of clergymen in persuading California’s legislators to change the state law so that ashes of a deceased person could be scattered at sea.

Captain Doug continued his grandfather’s legacy serving Huntington Beach, Long Beach, Newport Beach and the many surrounding communities with ash scattering memorial services.

A special time to say farewell

    "Perfect Memorial Service"

    - Lori O., Huntington Beach, CA

On behalf of me and my family, thank you for such a memorable time on your beautiful boat. It couldn't have been more perfect and all of us will treasure my mom's special moment forever.

      "A Beautiful, Special Day"

      - Mimi, Huntington Beach, CA

Captain Doug and First Mate Donna were very accommodating for our family's event to scatter our mom's ashes. Their boat was beautiful and they were very friendly. It was difficult to find this service out of Huntington Harbor. It was a beautiful, special day that went very smoothly thanks to them.

        "Joyous and beautiful"

        - Hidden Yelp Review 1/21/2021

Captain Doug and crew member Lisa made an extremely difficult time, a joyous and beautiful way to say goodbye to my husband as we released his ashes into the sea. Donna was wonderful from my first inquiry, up to the very end. The beautiful certificate provided with the coordinates of where the ashes were scattered, is a a wonderful touch. Thanks to all of you at Prince Charters for making this so special.
